On the occasion of the exhibition “Traveling in the Collections of Villa Carlotta” (Tremezzina, Como, March 18–April 20, 2016), this first issue of a series dedicated to the collections of the renowned museum and botanical garden is being published. Thanks to a generous donation, the institution is able to present to visitors, in the museum’s rooms and through this publication, a substantial series of plates illustrated by Dominique Vivant Denon, French writer, diplomat, engraver, and collector, taken from Journey to Lower and Upper Egypt, in the edition printed in Florence in 1808.
